Full Job Description

To complete the Masters in Systemic Psychotherapy (funded by the service)

To contribute to a high quality specialist family therapy service to service users and families with complex emotional and mental health needs as part of the All Age Eating Disorder Service.

To provide specialist assessment, formulation and therapy within the service.

To offer advice, consultancy and supervision, under supervision of the Senior Family Therapist, and support the work of colleagues providing care and treatment, according to expertise.

To work with the Senior Family Therapist to provide training to a range of qualified and unqualified staff across mental health areas, as agreed.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.

To be involved in service developments, as appropriate.

Applications are welcome from suitably qualified Family Therapists/ Systemic Psychotherapists who are registered with UKCP and possess the appropriate level of experience to meet the requirements of this senior role. However, we would also be happy to consider applications from recently qualified Family Therapists (with less than 2 years of experience) who may not yet meet the full competency requirements for this post. If appointed, such a candidate would be initially employed as a band 7 and be supported via a specific development plan over an agreed time frame to move towards band 8a.

You should be an excellent communicator and team player, with the successful applicant joining a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of professionals to provide assessment and treatment to children and adult service users and their families/carers. The team includes a range of other psychological professionals, nurses, dietitians and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Lead.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
