The IAM Systems Developer is responsible for helping provide effective and consistent Identity and Access Management (IAM) services to enable some of the University's strategic objectives. These services are a key part of improving the University's digital security, facilitating regulatory compliance, and enabling a better user experience. IAM is a rapidly evolving area, and you will take a leading role in expanding the services' capabilities to meet new requirements. - Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working., The postholder will take a leading role in the design and delivery of new and existing IAM services to build and develop on our existing IAM infrastructure and will contribute to supporting the team in business-as-usual activities as well as to IAM projects. The postholder, in consultation with other technical experts within the team, will have responsibility for software development, systems design, implementation, testing, and making contributions to project work packages identified, commensurate with skills and experience. The Identity and Access Management (IAM) Team support the systems that play a vital role in providing services underpinning University IT systems and business processes within the collegiate University: the post holder will, as a member of the IAM team, have shared responsibility for the range of services it offers during the lifetime of the post. The postholder will also provide third-line support for these essential University services, which requires engagement with members of the University who integrate with, and who are users of IAM services. This includes IT Services, departments within UAS, and departments and colleges in the wider collegiate University. The IAM team comprises a team of Systems Developers led by the Team Lead and the Technical Lead, reporting to the Team Lead. The team resides within the Platform Services group within the Infrastructure Services directorate.
You should have good experience in the software and systems design of authentication, authorization, and provisioning services, with a deep technical understanding of their underpinning standards-based technologies. You should also have demonstrable experience in configuring and supporting implementations of those technologies. You should have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, necessary for documentating and presenting complex technical ideas to a variety of internal and external business and technical stakeholders. You will have excellent programming skills, with a good knowledge of database platforms, as well as strong SQL skills, a robust understanding of data serialization formats, and an appreciation of the importance of and best practices around data management, data protection, and data privacy. You should be able to use your understanding of IAM concepts and technologies and how they apply in Oxford's devolved structure to critique IAM aspects of solution design. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about working in an expert team where quality of service, attention to detail, and a willingness to respond positively to new challenges are all important - good interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.
