Full Job Description

As an Applications Engineer you will be working in a mainly Systems Engineering based role. This surrounds interpreting and analysing customer fed system requirements, and developing them into our own derived functional requirements for Software and Test teams to develop from. During this development process you will also be required to meet scheduled stakeholder review milestones, and present the current development progress of your subsystem. In tandem with requirement development you will also be designing Human Computer Interfaces, based on Microsoft Visio. This will require you to visually embody your system's design in the most efficient way in order to, provide the best ergonomic system control and monitoring solution to the end user. As an Applications Engineer you are also encouraged to highlight areas in our processes where we can improve on efficiency and overall development.,

  • Working on all aspects of the Platform Management System (PMS): a system to monitor, control and automate major subsystems for marine platforms.
  • Ensuring Configurable Software Components (CSC), are developed to a high standard using the companies Engineering Management Plan, processes and procedures.
  • Produce and maintain high quality documentation throughout the CSC development lifecycle, ensuring full traceability of the customer requirements through Functional Design Specification to Software Design.
  • Engage with the customer through the requirements definition, reviews and technical queries throughout the CSC development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across different engineering functions to develop functional requirements and conceptualise Human Computer Interface (HCI) Pages.
  • Participate in reviews of Functional Design Specifications, HCI Page Reviews, Software Design and Test Documents.

    Minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Relevant Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electronics, Controls). We will also consider alternative equivalent experience/qualifications (e.g. an Apprenticeship background).
  • An understanding of Systems Engineering development lifecycles, with a basic understanding of key aspects, such as Requirements capture, Integration and Verification methods
  • Knowledge of Marine Engineering or in Plant Processes, Control Systems - desirable
  • Understanding of requirement management tools - desirable
