Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Systems Support Officer to join the ICT team within Sandwell Council's Regulatory Services. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting and enhancing the functionality of systems used by Regulatory Services, providing technical support and systems administration to ensure seamless operation. You will deliver helpdesk support to end users, administer access controls, manage system upgrades, and ensure data integrity across platforms. This role also includes providing user training and maintaining high standards of customer support.,

  • Systems Administration: Set up, maintain, and control access to systems for end users.
  • Helpdesk Support: Provide responsive and reliable assistance through a helpdesk service, addressing issues and troubleshooting system problems.
  • Data Quality and Auditing: Run audits to ensure high data quality and collaborate with colleagues to resolve data inaccuracies.
  • System Testing: Lead the testing process for new systems and upgrades, including documenting and managing core application functionality.
  • End-User Training: Deliver formal training and provide on-site support to ensure effective system use.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with software suppliers and internal teams to enhance systems and resolve technical issues.

    Education: GCSE English Grade C or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in systems support and configuration, with demonstrated proficiency in managing helpdesk services and collaborating with external vendors.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of case management systems, IT systems, databases, and the software lifecycle. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Communication: Ability to explain technical processes to non-technical audiences, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
