Full Job Description

Working as part of the Global Tax Organisation you will fully support Shell and Finance's strategy and priorities, to facilitate managing our evolving portfolio and our mission of helping society get to net zero. This role reports into the Country Tax Manager, UK, under the VP Tax Corporate. This role is one of 5 onshore roles reporting into the UK Country Tax Manager, located in the UK. The role is part of a pool of tax resources and so will need to work flexibly as priorities demand. Provision of UK tax advice to ensure fiscal compliance, minimising exposures, effective risk management, transparent and real time working with HMRC, and support for business objectives. What we need from you External relationships:

  • Effectively establish, build, and utilise external relationships and contacts for the benefit of Shell.
  • Working with other areas of Tax, in particular other members of the UK Country Tax team and other tax colleagues as necessary.
  • Engaging with stakeholders in Finance and the Business as appropriate.
  • Direct interaction with HMRC on relevant issues, including ensuring transparent, real time cooperative compliance.
  • All other activities as required.
  • Appropriate technical, professional, and business knowledge/experience/qualifications:
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK and international tax commensurate with the seniority of the role, gained working for a multinational, or a professional firm.
  • Highly effective at managing Tax risks, balancing risks with Business objectives, and making recommendations that are objective, pragmatic, technically appropriate, and supportive of the Business.
  • Demonstration of Leadership and Communication skills commensurate with the seniority of the role.
  • Given the need for increased prioritisation and pooling, this role will work flexibly undertaking any other activities as required.
  • Support the partnership with /reliance on Business, and Business Finance, to make judgments on low-risk tax activities (provision of tools, handrail documents, decision trees etc.)
