Full Job Description
Your team: The News UK Tax Team comprises 7 individuals across Peterborough and London managing the tax affairs for our worldwide business.
Your role: You will play a crucial role in supporting our Tax Team, gaining exposure to Corporation Tax, Employment Tax, and VAT compliance cycles. This unique opportunity to build a solid foundation in tax compliance and accounting skills in the media industry.
Day to day you will:
VAT:
- Collate and analyse data sources for UK and Irish VAT compliance.
- Prepare and file JV VAT returns for Octave and Newsprinters.
- Prepare overseas VAT returns for multiple jurisdictions, collaborating with Deloitte as needed.
- Clear VAT flags in Risk Centre and respond to business onboarding queries.
- Collate PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) computations.
- Manage monthly and quarterly PSA provisioning, including tax calculations and journal recharges.
- Assist with monthly IR35/Self Employment tax audits and liaise with relevant teams.
- Manage US entity onboarding of contributors/suppliers and ensure IRS forms are correct.
- Assist the Corporation Tax team during busy periods with data analysis and CT computation.
- Support senior members of the tax team with ad-hoc tasks.
- Assist the Tax Analyst in day-to-day administration.
- Occasionally work in the London offices when required.

Desire to study AAT/ATT - Basic understanding of Balance Sheet reconciliations
- A desire to build up a solid base of tax compliance and accounting skills
- Able to work on their own initiative with good interpersonal skills, as well as being able to take and understand instructions from management
- A high level of IT literacy in Microsoft Office packages
