Full Job Description

Please note that the college will close from 20 December for the festive break. Shortlisting and interviews will take place in January 2025. This is a Variable Hours role. Leeds City College is recruiting a British Sign Language (BSL) Teacher to join our team at our Enfield Campus (LS7 1RG). The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in BSL and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and communicative environment for all learners. This role is variable hours, teaching two evenings per week, but is open for discussion based on the successful candidate's requirements. What You Will Do

  • Deliver high-quality BSL instruction to individuals and groups of varying proficiency levels.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of diverse learners.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their language acquisition.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of Deaf culture within the community.

    Experience of Awards and Certificates at Level 1 and Level 2 in BSL.
  • Advanced certification in BSL (minimum Level 3, preferably Level 6 or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in teaching BSL, with a track record of successful student outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for advocacy and support of the Deaf community.
