START DATE JANUARY/APRIL 2025 Full Time or Part Time ECT/MPR/UPR R & R available for the right candidate WE CANNOT PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS POSITION Our Art Department are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dedicated Art Teacher with a love of education to join the team to encourage all pupils to make progress in this subject no matter their ability. There are currently three highly committed teachers who strive for excellence, enjoying a range of traditional and progressive methodology and contributing to the academic life of the school. Cove School has a 'vibrant and thriving CPD programme' (Ofsted 2018) The Art Department is a strong department which consistently achieves good outcomes. At GCSE, we offer Fine Art, 3D Art, Textile Art, Graphic Communication and this year have introduced Photography. A well-resourced department; the subject is taught in four well-equipped, specialist art rooms, one of which houses a kiln room. We also have a part-time Art Technician working with the department. The Art department run excellent trips for pupils such as visits to the Natural History Museum, Portsmouth Historic Dockyards and Brooklands Museum. We are looking to appoint a colleague who will:
- Engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge pupils in order for them to excel academically
- Have relentlessly high expectations of themselves and pupils
- Have excellent subject knowledge to include Fine Art and Textiles specifically
- Be willing to teach across the full age range of pupils; year 7 to year 11
- Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the department and wider school through sharing resources and good practice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and active participation in continuing professional studies programme
- Teach a standard timetable allocation
- Make a positive contribution to the efficient running of the department, including, setting and marking examinations, attending departmental meetings and undertaking administrative and other tasks as delegated by the Curriculum Leader
- Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of children
- Support the schools' aims and objectives for teaching and learning
- Adhere to and promote all school policies and procedures Person Specification: · Good level degree in a directly related subject (desirable) · Thorough knowledge of the (13-16) subject Curriculum (GCSE) · Recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, or equivalent experience · Awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice · Good level of IT literacy · Be capable of delivering inspirational and informative lessons to the full age and ability range of pupils at the school · Be able to demonstrate a positive and authoritative rapport with pupils · Excellent and effective classroom management skills · Have excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitors · Be organised and self-motivated, with a proven record for meeting targets and deadlines Essential Values, Behaviours and Attitudes All employees are expected to actively promote and demonstrate the core values of the school:
