Full Job Description

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic, part-time Teacher of Art to join our successful Art department. This post could suit an ECT as well as a more experienced candidate.

The department is comprised of a Head of Department and two part-time teachers. Currently there are 3 GCSE classes, one for Art and two for Photography and one A-Level class for Art, Craft and Design. It is an exciting time to join our department as we have made recent changes to our curriculum at KS3 to improve engagement and take-up at KS4. We are a successful department that has made links with community projects, is part of the Bucks Art network of schools and has consistently good results. We offer a mixed media specialism to our students, working with photography, drawing, textiles and print processes.

The Department benefits from a fortnightly timetabled collaborative planning period, giving staff time to reflect on subject pedagogy and collaboratively plan.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate their passion for Art and Photography to students of all abilities. You should be able to inspire students at KS3 and develop them successfully throughout GCSE and A Level courses. You will be able to modify and refine techniques and processes, leading students through a mastery of skills across drawing, painting, printing techniques, mixed-media outcomes and develop conceptual understanding through rigorous teaching and retrieval practice. You will have belief that every student can succeed in your classroom.

As a school we are creative in our curriculum and we treat each child as an individual; because of this, learning and progress is at the centre of everything we do. We work towards making the selective system irrelevant. We have 870 students, with a growing 6th form and just fewer than 100 staff at the school.
