TEACHER OF BUSINESS STUDIES

(With an opportunity to teach Economics, if desired)

PERMANENT, FULL TIME

SALARY: MPR/UPR

Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care. In 2023/2024, 67% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9-4 grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. Progress was also strong. At A level in 2023, 44% of grades were at A

  • -B. Similarly, high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.


  • Our flourishing Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses at A level, as well as vocational level 2 and 3 courses.

    Our Governors wish to appoint an ambitious, talented and innovative Teacher of Business Studies in our Vocational Studies Faculty, who is committed to raising achievement and who has the capacity to make a real contribution to the work of a supportive and continually improving school. Ambition for excellence, a passion for student achievement and the desire to develop professional skills within a supportive learning community will characterise applications for this post. Both subjects are also offered as A Level qualifications.

    Candidates must be able to teach across the age and ability range.

    The post would suit either an ECT or more experienced teacher.

    The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Check.

    This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that the post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment / selection and probationary stages.
