Full Job Description

As a core subject, all students follow English up to and including GCSE level. Student performance is improving and is broadly in line with expectations. However, there is the desire to improve further on this, particularly at GCSE level. The English team consists of ten very capable and hard-working specialist teachers who have a broad range of experiences.

The department is situated over two floors in a designated area of the school. Each classroom is fully equipped with the interactive technology, including classroom visualisers; interactive whiteboards and all teaching staff are issued with a laptop computer. We believe the role would suit an NQT eager to develop in their first position or a highly effective practitioner searching for a new school context.

We are looking for a suitably experienced and talented individual to join us as a Teacher of English.

Caldicot School is an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive serving the local and wider community. The school has around 1300 students and is situated between Chepstow and Newport, with easy access via the M4 corridor and on the northern side of the Severn Estuary.

The school is at an exciting stage in its history. In September 2017, the school moved to a new £36m purpose-built site and now boasts some of the finest facilities in the country. Over the last six months, there has been a significant number of changes at the school which has supported rapid improvements in standards. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking school. Our students take part in a broad range of activities that help them become "well-rounded" and the school's commitment to a values-driven education helps shape students to become positive role models in our society.
