We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of German to join our highly successful Languages Team and who will help us on our journey to provide exceptional educational provision for our pupils and families. The Languages Department at Shireland is a successful, forward-looking and creative department, regularly achieving results above the national average at GCSE. German is taught across the age and ability range and we have recently introduced French in Year 7 and 8. German is taught in Year 7, 8 and 9, after which students can then opt to continue with their language learning. We currently have 4 classes of German in KS4 and small groups of 6th Form students in Year 12 and 13. At KS4 & 5 we follow the AQA Course and at KS3 we have created our own Schemes of Work suited to our learners. We have a wide range of new technologies to enrich teaching and engage learners. Language visits, both home and abroad, are positively encouraged and are very popular. Pupils in KS3 have the opportunity to visit local Universities and also local Business to experience the benefits of languages in the world of work and we also run a trip to Boppard for pupils in all key stages.
