Full Job Description

Kew House School was established in the conviction that there exists an opportunity for a different kind of independent secondary school in London - academically demanding but with a forward-thinking approach to selection criteria, the flexibility of the curriculum, the shape of the school day, and recognition of creativity and talent. A character-selective school, we pride ourselves on the support and care we extend to our 600 pupils whilst striving to add value to their success in all fields of academia, sport, and creativity. Kew House has successfully grown over ten years since its foundation and was recently awarded the ISI "Excellent" grading.

We require a Teacher of History to join us in January 2025 preferably, or Easter 2025, to promote a love of history for every pupil. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering KS3, KS4 & KS5 History.

Facilities

The buildings are equipped with modern facilities with interactive smartboards and access to iPads.

Curriculum

History is part of the Humanities Faculty, along with Geography, Economics, Business, and Politics. History is at the centre of the school curriculum. A wide range of periods are delivered, creating a dynamic and exhilarating curriculum for our pupils. At Key Stage 3, pupils study 90 minutes of History each week, covering a range of topics. At Key Stages 4 and 5, pupils study 3 hours of History each week. The History Department is thriving, with excellent results, a high uptake at GCSE and A Level, and several students each year going on to study History and related disciplines at university. The school's aim is to provide a rich and broad education to all pupils, whatever their specialism. Whilst we aim to achieve the highest academic results for each pupil, we do not serve as an examination "factory".

Extra-Curricular

The History Department runs several extra-curricular visits throughout the year, including local, national, and international visits.
