Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a History teacher to lead the subject in the school up to and including GCSE. The successful candidate will join a department of seven History teachers. History is a very popular subject at GCSE and the school follows the I/GCSE Cambridge course. St Edmund's is an expanding and successful school of 600+ girls and boys aged 2 to 16. The ability to offer a subsidiary subject, particularly Religious Studies is desirable although not essential for full-time employment. The school participates in the Teachers' Pension Scheme. Accommodation on site may be available. Early applications are encouraged. St Edmund's is thriving with numbers the highest in its 150 year history. Average class sizes are small, circa seventeen pupils. In 2024 our students posted a 97% GCSE pass rate (grades 4-9) against a national average of 67%. The proportion of grades awarded at 7-9 (the old A
