In 2023, Ofsted rated Calderstones School 'Good' in all areas. Our large, successful, richly diverse comprehensive school is adjacent to Calderstones Park, South Liverpool. The school's comprehensive nature and community spirit is something that we value immensely. The school has impressive facilities across the campus including a swimming pool, ample secure staff parking and full equipped gym. The Department is located in the Morrison Wing of the school and has access to a range of excellent facilities and resources including an interactive whiteboard fitted in every room. The use of ICT in learning and teaching is actively encouraged and is used extensively across the department with each teacher also having access to a visualiser. All teaching rooms within the Department are purpose-built, modern and spacious, each with its own stockroom.

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a dynamic and innovative Teacher of Mathematics to join an ambitious, successful, forward-thinking department on a part-time (0.6fte) basis. Mathematics is taught throughout the school by a team of high-skilled teachers and is very successful at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. We are proud to deliver L2 Further Maths in Year 11 and L3 Certificate in Mathematical Studies in the 6th Form. In 2023, 90% of students achieved grade A

  • -E, with 52% achieving grades A-B. At GCSE in 2023, 70% of students achieved grade 4+, 48% grade 5+ and 16% grade 7+. (See department information for further details on our successes.) The Mathematics Department value teamwork, commitment, professionalism and a sense of humour. We also value the ability to inspire our pupils to appreciate the inherent beauty in mathematics by communicating with them in an enthusiastic and caring manner. The members of the Mathematics Department are extremely ambitious. We set very high standards for both our pupils and ourselves, and this is undoubtedly an ideal opportunity for the right applicant to build on our recent successes. Applications from ECT's are welcome and the ability to A Level Maths and Further Maths is desirable, although not essential.
