Full Job Description

'CAT employs rolling recruitment methodologies, with shortlisting and interviews for some roles taking place as and when applications are received. This may mean that some roles are recruited to before the closing date, and therefore advise that applications are made without undue delay'.

Carlton Bolling is a large secondary school of over 1600 students situated close to the centre of Bradford. It has been on a remarkable improvement journey over recent years, after going into Special Measures in 2014 under high-profile circumstances and being dubbed 'The Most Broken School in the Country'. From this low point it underwent rapid improvement, attaining an 'Outstanding' rating from Ofsted less than two years after coming out of Special Measures. This success was followed up by accreditation as a World Class School in 2018, then being named 'Secondary School of The Year' in the 2019 Pearson/BBC National Teaching Awards. The school more recently in 2023 attained an 'Outstanding' status under the reformed Ofsted framework. Despite this considerable success, the school still retains its innovative edge with several exciting initiatives being introduced over recent years, with many more to come.

Like all schools in the Trust, Carlton Bolling is a pleasant place to work with friendly, supportive, and helpful staff. Class sizes are small, averaging just 16 across all year groups in Maths and English, with slightly higher numbers in other subjects. Student behaviour and conduct is excellent, promoted and maintained by a large team of non-teaching Heads of Year. In line with Trust priorities, meetings, bureaucracy, and paperwork are kept to the absolute minimum, with staff regularly recognised and rewarded for their contribution to the school. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative, and committed Teacher of PE with high expectations of students and themselves. Working alongside senior leaders, you will promote a culture of high expectations throughout the faculty in all areas of performance and conduct for staff and students, both in the core curriculum and through the development of wider curricular activities.

The successful candidate will be capable of inspiring students of all abilities through their passion for the subject. Offering PE at KS3 and KS4, keen to make PE lessons exciting and engaging for all to encourage students to achieve their best. The successful applicant will report directly to the Director of Faculty, and it is expected they will support the strategic direction and development of the faculty across the relevant areas and exam courses. We look forward to hearing from candidates who share our vision and are prepared to put in the effort to attain our goals.

If you would like to apply for this vacancy, please complete the Equalities Monitoring Form and the Application Form. No additional supporting statements or CVs will be considered.
