Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint an outstanding and inspirational Teacher of Science.

  • The position will suit an experienced or early career teacher.

The Science department is led by our enthusiastic Director of Science with a team of subject coordinators in physics, chemistry and biology. Science is very popular and is studied from key stage 3 through to key stage 5, running all three sciences at A level. Our STEM Academy as part of our sixth form provision is providing access to students to the STEM labs at the University of Essex, a planned residential trip to CERN next year, visiting lecturers and employers and collaboration with local STEM organisations. Some of your key responsibilities will include:
  • Be accountable for student progress and development within your classes.
  • Be innovative in your own teaching and to develop and enhance the teaching practice of others.
  • Plan collaboratively with colleagues in order to promote effective practice and provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum.
  • Be a form tutor to promote a sense of belonging amongst our students., We are a large secondary school in Colchester and also enjoy a thriving Sixth Form College. We are a popular School with waiting lists for every year and are proud of our strong academic record. We have an excellent and enthusiastic staff led by a strong senior leadership team and we work hard to provide an environment where every student is valued and their varying needs met. Our pastoral care is based upon a highly successful house system and ensures support both for students and parents.
