Creating chances for students to really shine and show how amazing they are. Main Areas of Responsibility Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the KS3 and KS4 Literacy and Numeracy intervention programmes
  • Raising standards of students' attainment and achievement across the curriculum and to monitor and supporting progress with particular regard to students named on the SEND register
  • Identifying and adopting the most effective teaching approaches for students with SEN.
  • Accountability for developing and leading appropriate interventions to address a range of needs across the Academy and/or with the alternative pathway
  • Implementing and delivering an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and personalised curriculum for students on an alternative pathway.
  • Complementing the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed interventions under an agreed system of supervision
  • Carrying out teaching duties in accordance with the Academy's Schemes of Work, the National Curriculum and public examinations specifications
  • Working closely with teachers and teaching assistants to ensure that suitable tasks and learning materials are personalised
  • Contributing to the Academy's SEND CPD to teaching and support staff in consultation with the SENDCO
  • Monitoring and evaluating students' responses to learning activities through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies
  • Closely and regularly reviewing progress of students attending interventions, providing individual reports to parents/carers and impact reports for the SENDCO
  • Completing relevant documentation to assist in the tracking of students and using information to inform teaching and learning
  • Qualifications & Experience We would like to hear from you if you have:
  • Graduate in relevant subject and DfE recognised Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Successful teaching experience at secondary level (can be teaching practice).
  • Relevant experience in SEN.
  • Knowledge of appropriate health safety regulations.
  • Experience of working in a school.
  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Understanding of the importance of students achieving their full potential.
  • A proven track record of recent and successful class teaching in mixed ability classes including implementation of support for high needs students with SEN.
  • Good understanding of child development and progression and how this is impacted by SEN.
  • Successful experience of delivering learning activities to students with ASD, SLCN and complex cognitive learning differences.
  • Understanding of effective strategies for managing behaviour within the classroom and in accordance with the school's policy.
  • Experience of working with, and implementing advice from, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other professionals.
  • An understanding of equal opportunity issues and how they can be addressed in schools
