Full Job Description

Applications are welcomed from teachers across the experience range. We offer an extensive programme of academy and Trust Professional Development to ensure all colleagues continue to develop as practitioners and have opportunities to work collaboratively across subjects and across academies within our Trust.

Early Career Teachers (ECTs) will have an experienced subject mentor assigned from day one in post. Colleagues are supported through their early career years with regular check ins from line managers and opportunities to meet with other ECTs across the Trust and colleagues from HR where any further support and guidance may be required. We are an inclusive academy and Trust and embrace opportunities to develop all colleagues on their journey to success. All newly appointed teaching colleagues receive a bespoke onboarding induction including their first day off timetable to ensure sufficient time and preparation can take place.

If you have the vision and skills to deliver inspirational teaching whilst having the focus and drive to ensure successful outcomes are reached, we'd love to hear from you.

Ossett Academy & Accord Sixth Form are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Social Sciences. You will have a deep interest in the attainment of pupils at every ability level and show vigour and initiative. This is a real opportunity to join a vibrant and forward-thinking team.

The Social Sciences department at Ossett Academy consists of Sociology, Psychology, Law, Criminology and Health and Social Care. The department is largely based in our purpose-built Sixth Form building (Accord Sixth). All subjects are hugely popular in our high-performing Sixth Form, and some subjects are a popular and successful option at GCSE. Therefore, the ability or desire to teach across Key Stage 4 and 5 would be required. Our Social Science provision is strong, and as a progressive Sixth Form provider we aim to expand our offer within the coming years. Experience of teaching childcare would also be desirable but not required.

We value challenge and active participation. The successful applicant will relentlessly pursue instilling an interest in their subject amongst all pupils, they will be innovative, with demonstrable resilience, vision, and energy.

We are confident that new staff joining our Trust will feel welcomed and happy to have chosen us. We encourage prospective candidates to look at our website for further information regarding our 'People Pledge' and our recently launched Employee Benefit package.
