  • Promote a culture that takes account of children's/young people's views about education and the PEP process and help them to articulate these views according to age and understanding.

  • Provide additional support and guidance around educational transitions especially at the point children enter or leave the home, but also during transitions that are part of a child's educational journey, especially where this involves a change of educational setting.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of additional support and enrichment activities and communication with schools and other professionals and share these with the Virtual School so that they can be added to the child's/young person's PEP record.

  • Work with considerable autonomy, within professional guidelines including KCSiE and the overall framework of Children and Families Services' policies and procedures including safeguarding and health and safety policies, at all times.

  • Celebrate Equality and Diversity and ensuring it is considered as part of all decisions taken and contributing to Essex County Council's commitment to Anti Racist Practice.

  • Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.

  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with children, parents/carers, and other professionals involved in the children's care.

  • Shows knowledge, understanding and experience of the PEP processes, Essex Virtual School, SEND, Educational Safeguarding and initiates such as Trauma Perceptive Practice and 'Let's talk …We Miss You'.

  • Is highly organised, with excellent planning and time-management skills, and has the ability to work flexibly, adapt to changing priorities and circumstances and create opportunities for learning in the home and community.

  • Shows a strong commitment to inclusive education, with a clear understanding of the importance of personalisation and meeting the individual needs of children.

  • Is committed to continuous professional development, and has a willingness to undertake training and development to enhance knowledge and skills.

  • Holds a driving licence and has access to a vehicle, or has the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means, as the job role requires the post holder to be mobile throughout an operational area.
