Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant 3 - Mentor, into our expanding team following promotion of existing staff who are now undertaking teacher training. The role of the Teaching Assistant 3 - Mentor is a key position, supporting students in a number of vocational areas and core subjects. Mentors offer classroom support, pastoral support and work with class teachers to develop meaningful programmes. Mentors support the vocational tutors as part of the tutor team and act as a supportive pastoral contact for all students. They sometime supervise classes to cover staff absence, working in small teams to deliver quality cover classes.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and supportive person with an interest in at least one of the following areas: Hospitality/Art & Creativity/Core & Academic subjects. Whilst experience of working with young people would be advantageous, the ability to develop and sustain meaningful relationships and champion students who have struggled to access mainstream education is key. You should be willing to learn, and keen to develop and appropriate training will be provided for the right candidate. You might be keen to work in a school setting prior to undertaking teacher training, or developing knowledge of working in Alternative Provision and pastoral roles.
