Teaching Assistant (Apprenticeship Available)

Salary: £15,287 - £15,529 (Actual Salary), (FTE: £24,404 - £24,790) Contract: 12 month fixed term Initially or Apprenticeship option available Hours: 27 hours per week Grade: 4 Role: Teaching Assistant/ Learning Support Assistant Matthew Arnold is a thriving community school on the outskirts of Oxford and we are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant/Teaching Assistant. This is Fixed -Term position for 12 months initially, which may be extended based on specific funding. Matthew Arnold is an oversubscribed inclusive 11-18 school of over 1,300 pupils that serves a mix of urban and rural communities across the west side of Oxford. Apprenticeship Option Acer Trust is committed to professional development, and we welcome canddiates who are interested in completing further study that is funded through the Apprenticeship Levy. Main purpose of the role To raise standards and achievement for identified students on the Special Educational Needs register, including those in underachieving groups, by using advanced levels of knowledge and skills when planning, delivering and monitoring in-class and intervention support. Principal responsibilities In order to raise outcomes for students with SEND needs and promote students' learning:

• Work with individuals and small groups both inside and outside the classroom, which involves both delivering subject interventions for 1:1 or small groups and supporting the delivery of lessons across subject departments as required
• Plan with and support classroom teachers to motivate and progress students' learning by developing and promoting appropriate strategies and resources to support them in reaching their targets
• Encourage students to be positive, confident and independent learners through differentiation and support provided
• Be the key worker for specific students as required, to give guidance and support so that they make appropriate progress
• Carry out other duties relating to the core purpose of this job specification as required

Variable Hours Policy This position is subject to a variable hours clause where the contracted hours can be reduced by a third. This enables schools to manage the fluctuations in pupil's needs that can occur from one year to the next while offering a permanent contract.
