Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and successful team. Istead Rise is a welcoming, one-form entry primary school, situated in beautiful grounds, with a stable and happy staffing family. We are a successful oversubscribed school, where pupils are well behaved and attain at a high level. We place the wellbeing of our pupils and colleagues at the centre of all we do. Our most recent Ofsted inspection report can be read here, and details the many positive aspects for pupils attending our school.
The school's ultimate aim is to ensure that all children leave well prepared for secondary school - this agenda is addressed by prioritising both well-being and learning. All children are taught phonics through the Read Write Inc. scheme and additional investments have been made in high quality guided reading, writing and numeracy resources. In addition, we offer a range of extra-curricular activities and a variety of opportunities to develop a broad and enriching learning experience for all pupils.
High expectations are made of all pupils to achieve and attain the very best outcomes. Visitors to the school often comment on its calm and focused, yet enjoyable, learning environment. Strong community links, supportive and engaged parents and families help to contribute to the school's welcoming and positive atmosphere.
Please read the job description and person specification carefully. Previous experience of working in a primary school or other EYFS setting would be welcomed.
Please send in your application as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed as soon as we receive them even if this is prior to the application close date.

Istead Rise Primary School is located in a semi-rural village on the outskirts of Gravesend, and currently has 210 pupils on roll.
At Istead Rise we teach an ambitious and bespoke curriculum which encourages children to develop as all round individuals; to learn skills which will support them throughout their future schooling and beyond.
There are four core values which are embedded within all aspects of school life. These are: independence, respect, perseverance and self-reflection. Istead Rise Primary School uses a Restorative Approach to manage behaviour, and deal with conflict. This approach focuses on developing positive relationships within the school and creates a safe, secure environment which enables children to develop both academically and socially.
In February 2024, we received a long awaited visit from Ofsted who judged the school to be good with many aspects being outstanding. The inspectors celebrated the pupils' positive attitudes to learning; exemplary conduct and our successful curriculum which sparks pupils' interests. We are proud of the exciting, memorable experiences that we offer children as part of our curriculum. Our extensive and picturesque grounds afford our children with many opportunities to take part in Forest Schools, swimming (our pool is onsite), a range of sports and a range of after school clubs.
Our school is part of Swale Academies Trust. Being a member of a highly successful Trust has enabled us to share expertise and good practice with other primary schools. Our Senior Leadership Team value all staff greatly and are committed to supporting teachers in achieving a healthy work/life balance. We are committed to reducing the overall workload of our teachers and have procedures in place, aimed at eliminating unnecessary tasks, related to planning, marking and data tracking.
