Full Job Description

Teaching Assistant Level 2 supporting child with SEMH and communication We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at St John's C.E. Primary School in Hindley Green. In this role, you will provide 1 : 1 support to a pupil with selective mutism, focusing on their communication and language development, as well as their social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.,

  • Provide tailored support to the pupil, using evidence-based strategies to improve their communication and language skills
  • Collaborate with the SENCO, class teacher, and other professionals to develop and implement effective intervention plans
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment to help the pupil feel safe, supported, and able to participate in all aspects of school life
  • Monitor the pupil's progress and maintain detailed records to inform future planning
  • Assist the pupil with any personal care or mobility needs, as required
  • Promote the pupil's independence and self-care skills

    NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Teaching Assistance or a related field
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs and communication difficulties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the holistic development of the pupil
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the wider school team
  • Desirable Qualities :
  • Knowledge or training in supporting pupils with selective mutism
  • Experience using alternative communication methods (e.g. visual aids, communication boards)
  • Enthusiasm for continuing professional development

    Salary : QUEST Grade B, £16,057 - £16,596 per annum.
