Full Job Description

The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated Level 3 Teaching Assistant working across both Key Stages to support children with SEN. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well equipped candidate to work with the SENDco and teachers to develop and support SEN children. You will work with and supervise individuals and groups of children under the direction of the SENDco and teachers, inclusive of specific individual needs, enabling learning for all pupils. The successful candidate will :

  • support the needs of SEN pupils;
  • work closely with staff, parents and outside agencies;
  • be able to cater for the individual needs of the children and to use initiative based upon situations as they arise
  • follow individual Care Plans as directed;
  • establish good relationships and team working with the wider school community;
  • provide excellent support for the class teacher and all pupils;
  • listen to and respond to advice from other professionals outside the setting and be accountable for maintaining records and observations;
  • provide details feedback to the SENDco, class teacher and parents;
  • create supportive and trusting relationship with parents with an honest and open approach;
  • Applicants will need to demonstrate a proven understanding of working with children who need particular support in different aspects of SEN needs. You will also need experience working across both Key Stages and it is essential that you have experience of working with SEN needs. St Thomas CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to a DBS check, suitable references and a medical questionnaire. In addition, as part of the shortlisting process we will carry out an online search as part of our due diligence on the shortlisted candidates. This search will be conducted by a senior member of the School Leadership Team, who will not be involved in the recruitment process. A consistent approach will be taken, and the results will be recorded. The search is to help identify any incidents or issues relevant to suitability to work with children, that have happened and are publicly available online, which we may want to explore with the applicant at interview stage.

    Salary : Grade 4, £17,924 - £18,841 per annum. £12.18 - £12.80 per hour 33.75 hours per week, term time working 38 weeks per year
