Full Job Description

The purpose of the Teaching Assistant Trainer / Assessor role is to carry out training & assessment for Level 3 Teaching Assistant standard qualification and deliver Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification to Traineeship learners.

What you will be doing:

  • Plan and deliver training, carry out assessments and assess portfolio work up to and including a maximum of Level 3.

  • Track learner starting points and monitor development.

  • Carry out research and product development for new qualifications in line with customer demand and continuous improvement of the provision, including material for the virtual learning environment.

  • Provide high quality academic guidance and advice to ensure all learners have a productive and effective learning experience.

  • Demonstrate good practice in teaching, learning and assessment in line with Gen2's principles and strategy.

  • Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.

  • Assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of learning and maintaining records to monitor learner progress, achievement and attendance.

  • Ensure compliance with Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act and all other rules and regulations that govern the work completed for Gen2

  • Adapt teaching styles to provide an inclusive curriculum to all learners

  • Undertake any such duties which may be specified from time to time, in relation to the role, by management.

  • Maintain own continuing professional development.

  • Actively follow and promote Gen2 policies, including Safeguarding, Prevent Duty, Equality and Diversity.

  • Follow internal policies and procedures for Health and Safety

  • Deliver an induction programme that clearly identifies the requirements of the apprenticeship standard

  • Prepare learners for entry into the Gateway and ensure all evidence is in place for End Point Assessment.

  • Provide one-to-one learner support throughout the learner journey

  • Support and promote the development of maths, English and ICT in all areas of learner work

  • Arrange for IAG activities throughout the learner journey

  • Provide pastoral care and support to learners.

  • Effectively communicate and visit with employers and work with them to design an individualised learner curriculum

  • Carry out regular progress reviews with apprentices ensuring all party involvement.

  • Ensure the full embedding of Fundamental British Values into all teaching practice

  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners.

  • Additional duties appropriate to the post as directed by your line manager

    This is an excellent opportunity for the person who has Assessor's qualification and also has Teaching Assistant qualification.

    We require the candidate to have recent and relevant experience in a similar role.

    Your base will be our site in Workington, however you will be meeting learner in schools all over Cumbria. We would like to ensure that you like commuting to different sites and also have your own car and driving licence.

  • A strong knowledge of the subject area combined with a broad subject background enabling contribution to teaching programmes

  • Proven record of ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines.

  • Evidence of experience of working within a school environment either as a Teaching Assistant or qualified Teacher.

  • Minimum Level 2 in Maths & English or GCSE grade C/4 or above.

  • Qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

  • Good digital skills

  • L3 Assessor's Award

  • L4 Teaching qualification

  • Ability to travel throughout the county when required

  • Experience in assessing or carrying out reviews with students

  • Experience of curriculum design

  • Experienced in undertaking pastoral care of students

  • A commitment to academic research

  • Ability to meet targets and deadlines

  • Excellent team player and supportive colleague.

  • A 'can do' attitude and proactive approach.
