Full Job Description

The successful candidate will work closely with the undergraduate module and placement leads. They will be expected to go to the clinical areas where students are placed, make contact with the students, and teach them regularly. The exact teaching timetable and groups of students will be flexible depending on the time of year. However, it is expected that the postholder will spend around 50% of their week face to face with students. The postholder will need to show initiative and the ability to manage their own time. Supervision for the fellowship in UHS would be from the Director of Medical Education and the DME team at UHS.

This role will provide the post holder with ample opportunities to develop their teaching skills through a combination of time spent teaching, mentorship from the module and placement leads, observing other teachers, and delivering observed teaching sessions with feedback., Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave. All licensed doctors must meet the GMC requirements for revalidation and there will be an annual appraisal to support this process.

The posts will suit motivated junior doctors who would like to develop their knowledge and experience in the field of medical education. Candidates will have the opportunity to discuss any particular interests at the interview stage.
