Full Job Description

To manage a crisis caseload of young people and their families and carers. To co-ordinate and deliver individualised care packages / programmes for adolescents and their families and evaluate these programmes, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with national guidelines and trust policy. To develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with young people and their families/carers. To be able to assess and manage high-risk adolescent clients in a variety of settings, conduct risk assessments and formulate robust individualised and dynamic safety plans. To independently undertake crisis mental health assessments in a variety of settings including Accident and Emergency departments out of hours and liaise with relevant individuals and agencies to promote a positive, safe and meaningful experience for the young person and their families To be able to demonstrate the ability to make appropriate decisions under pressure taking into consideration the risks to clients, self and others and to be able to assess the often complex situations of these clients and their families . To develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with young people and their families/carers. 4. To work as part of the young person's professional network, keeping them informed of developments, changes in risk status and promoting multi agency collaboration. Liaison with Children's Specialist Services, Educational services, independent sector mental health providers, Social Care and counsellors and any other professional related to the childcare. 5. To involve the young person, and as appropriate, their families/carers in delivering programmes of care. 6. To be able to assess and manage high-risk adolescent clients in a variety of settings, conducting risk assessments and formulating safety plans. 7. To effectively and appropriately communicate these risks often under difficult, highly charged and emotional circumstances to medical staff, other professionals and families involved in the care of the client. 9. To act as an autonomous practitioner with an understanding of own limitations and recognition of when to seek support. 10. To play an active role in promoting mental health and well-being in young people and their families/carers. 11. To take an active part in multi-agency meetings. E.g. CPA Meetings, professional meetings and clinical team discussions. 12. To have analytical and judgement skills to consider the wider implications of decisions made in regards to clients care, taking into account the young person's developmental stage. 13. To be able to demonstrate the ability to make appropriate decisions under pressure taking into consideration the risks to clients, self and others and to be able to assess the often complex situations of these clients and their families within the context of their social environment. Understanding risk and resilience as well as protective factors. 14. To demonstrate the ability to make appropriate decisions with regard to the confidentiality of clients and their families taking into considerations the risks to clients, self and the wider public 15. To offer joint work and specialist advice in relation to professional practice 16. To maintain clinical records in accordance with the NMC standards for record keeping and adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct or other relevant professional body 17. To be aware of the statutory requirements of both the Children Act and Mental Health Act and use these to inform good nursing practice. 18. To ensure that own practice remains within legal, ethical and professional parameters and is open to scrutiny from relevant professionals. 19. To possess IT skills in order to effectively communicate in writing with colleagues, other professionals and families in accordance with trust policies e.g. writing of comprehensive report. 20. To deliver evidence-based interventions and undertake routine outcome measures to monitor the quality of care provided, in keeping with the national CYPIAPT framework. 21. To participate in the provision of training and information for other professionals as appropriate in order to promote effective practice . 22. To liaise with other colleagues in CAMHS and participate in different clinical groups in order to share best practice and discuss current and future professional and clinical developments e.g. Adolescent clinical forums. On call / unsocial hours 23. There will be an expectation to work flexibly within the hours of 8am-10pm Monday- Sunday. Communication 24. Leading and participating in team meetings and contributing ideas to multi-professional team discussions. Support shared responsibility within the team, demonstrating respect and courtesy towards colleagues. 25. Ensuring that all complaints or compliments received are dealt with in accordance with Trust Policy. 26. Communicating within the partnership across the professional groups Staffing (HR) and education and training 27. Facilitating the induction of new staff and students. 28. Supporting the Service Manager in achieving operational and Trust goal. 29. To undertake and oversee the formal and informal supervision and appraisal of clinical work in group settings and individually. 30. Supporting the Team Lead to ensure mandatory and statutory training are up to date for all staff., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

We have a vacancy for a Senior CAMHS Crisis Practitioner (Urgent Help Service). This role will focus on leading crisis support of young people, independently carrying out mental health assessments and developing intensive interventions in the community. The CAMHS Response Team is based at The Maudsley Hospital, Denmark Hill, London. This varied role offers excellent opportunities to gain experience and skills in a variety of different settings. The Senior CAMHS Crisis practitioner will be expected to work shifts within these times including weekends and Bank Holidays. We are looking for a highly skilled, forward-thinking, creative and dynamic senior practitioner who has a passion for young person and family-centred care. You will be enthusiastic and resilient and be able to work with and respond to young people's needs creatively and flexibly.,

  • Educated to minimum diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of CPD, Significant experience of and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice
  • Experience of providing professional support/supervision and motivation of staff
  • Understanding of Health and Social Care Governance
  • Experience of managing staff, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
