Full Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the gastroenterology and oncology dietetic service for patients requiring specialist input for gastrointestinal cancers, pancreatic disease and complex nutrition support e.g. eating disorders, functional gut disorders., The post holder will work closely with members of various multi-disciplinary teams, including gastroenterology and oncology with the opportunity for development of an out-patient service to support patients newly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
The post holder will also support the provision of parenteral nutrition as part of the Nutrition Team alongside specialists from Pharmacy and Gastroenterology, as well as providing support for the Critical Care caseload during periods of cover. Strong skills in inpatient artificial nutrition support are required with experience of managing complex patients, as part of an effective MDT.
Line management experience is also desirable as the successful candidate will be managing a Band 6 Dietitian working in the gastroenterology service, who predominantly manages IBD. This role sits within the adult dietetic team at PRUH and there will be an opportunity to also provide cover to the stroke and critical care unit.
As well as involvement in service development projects and audits, the post holder will be expected to assist in planning the strategic development of the service as well asproviding supervision for other members of staff within the dietetic department. We also undertake student training and you would play an active role in student supervision. The department supports flexible working under the Kings flex system.
