Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neuro Therapy Team at St Richard's Hospital in Chichester, as Joint Team Lead Neuro Physiotherapist. This is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. As a team we see patients from admission to discharge. We cover ITU, Acute Stroke Ward, Neuro outliers across the hospital and a 12 bedded Neuro rehab unit. With another team lead, you will provide leadership, supervision, organisation and regular service reviews to a team of registered and unregistered staff. We work extremely closely with other members of the MDT including OT and SLT. There is an expectation to contribute to the out of hours services that Physiotherapy provides.

You will be supported by other team leads in the department, the operational Physiotherapy lead, the Therapies Site lead for St Richard's Hospital and professional lead for Physiotherapy for the Trust.

We are also lucky to have a Band 8a Clinical Specialist as part of our team. You will have the opportunity to have joint clinical and non-clinical supervision on a regular basis.

We are a research active team and are about to commence a quality improvement study and are driven to providing an evidence based approach for our patients. We have strong links to the Trust's Research and Innovation Committee and local HEIs. We are continuing to develop and support local clinical research activity and provide support for those interested in developing clinical academic careers.

Main duties of the job

Undertake a joint team leader role in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Physiotherapy Service provided to in-patient and out-patient neurology environments (including Acute Stroke Unit, Donald Wilson Neurological Rehabilitation Centre, acute neurological outliers, neurological out-patients)

To take a lead role in the advanced Physiotherapy assessment and treatment of patients in neurology environments who may have highly complex needs and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

To take a lead role in the on-going education and training of other members of Physiotherapy team, the wider health care team and Physiotherapy students in the Physiotherapy management of patients within Neurological environments.

To be the joint Physiotherapy lead in the development, planning and evaluation of Neurology services at St Richard's Hospital.

To plan and anticipate changing service demands within current resources and to work with the Therapy lead And Physiotherapy operational lead at St Richard's Hospital and other Specialty leads on service development and redesign of the Physiotherapy service.
