Full Job Description

The Production Team Leader is responsible for first-line supervision of the production team, effectively managing departmental workload and staff resources to ensure efficient and smooth operations. This role requires achieving daily production and quality targets, supporting the Shift Manager in the daily running of the shift, and deputising for the Shift Manager when needed.,

  • Co-ordinate daily production staff and team resources.

  • Communicate and set production requirements, ensuring work is properly allocated and resources are managed efficiently.

  • Facilitate and coordinate quality requirements to ensure customer standards are met.

  • Perform validation and quality inspections, ensuring adherence to all quality procedures.

  • Train colleagues on company standards, working practices, and processes.

  • Liaise with the Production Manager to address training and development needs within the team.

  • Manage holiday requests and other absences to maintain adequate staffing levels.

  • Ensure accurate and timely data collection and reporting.

  • Enforce Health & Safety and Environmental procedures, ensuring all staff adhere to relevant safety and environmental requirements.

  • Promote high standards of housekeeping and a culture of 5S in the workplace.

  • Support team members in identifying improvement activities and problem-solving.

  • Foster good working relations through leading by example and promoting best practices.

  • Operate machines and set tooling as needed, providing training to others on these duties.

  • Undertake low-level machine setting, consumable tool replacement, machine maintenance, and TPM activities.

  • Work with the team to maximise machine utilisation, reduce scrap and cycle time, and continuously improve performance.

  • Plan, organise, and direct activities within the production cell.

  • Co-ordinate team support activities, including materials, purchasing, maintenance, and housekeeping.

  • Collaborate with production management to prioritise production needs and achieve team targets.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans to resolve work problems.

  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.

  • Suggest improvements in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency.

  • Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.

  • Assist in resolving people management issues and support team attendance and labour utilisation reporting.

  • Maintain hourly output sheets and ensure all necessary documentation is accurately completed and submitted on time.

  • Attentive to detail and able to follow established procedures.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.

  • Background in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Strong timekeeping and attendance record., Literate and numerate, with a good command of written and spoken English.

  • Computer literate, with the ability to use relevant software and systems.

  • Previous experience as a team leader or section leader in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
