Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join this innovative service as a Band 7 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), working alongside social care colleagues at Cherry Tree Cottage. As part of the MDT, the candidate will work collaboratively with the registered manager and wider team to provide a service-user focused provision. The service will provide acute containment and support to children and young people who have social and co-morbid mental health difficulties.,

  • To ensure effective nursing assessment and provision of a high standard of care within the
  • To provide mental health expertise, clinical support and direction for complex or high risk cases and support with escalating concerns with cases through the appropriate routes.
  • To take an active role in implementing preventative measures and clinical de-escalation and management for children within the home to prevent crisis and AE attendance.
  • To provide a safe and containing environment that will help stabilise the mental health of children experiencing a mental health crisis in order to allow them to return to their original placement and thus enhance placement stability
  • To act as a positive clinical lead to ensure there is shared risk management and support in the management of children and young people in the Cherry Tree.
  • To manage and develop the team who can meet the changing needs of the service user.
  • To make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group. This evidence-based approach includes monitoring outcomes, modifying and adapting interventions drawn from a range of theoretical models.
  • To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group
  • To provide specialist expertise and psychological support to clients, their carers and staff working with the clients
  • To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management Working Relationships.

  • To have in depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983, the code of practice and the Mental Capacity Act to ensure their effective application by the inpatients service staff.

  • Provide professional and clinical leadership within the service.
  • To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self governance.

  • To contribute to service development projects within own service area and other relevant agencies as required. This can involve contributing to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the service operational policies or other organizational issues, by initiating and using ones professional skills in research, service evaluation and audit
  • To contribute to the development and improvement of the service through taking a lead role on appropriate projects
  • To liaise with other agencies and service providers in relation to the provision of psychological services and service developments, as agreed with the appropriate operational manager and Professional Lead.
  • To provide specialist bio-psychosocial assessments of clients referred to the team.

  • To communicate skillfully, tactfully and sensitively highly complex and sensitive information with clients and carers, taking into account sensitive cultural barriers to communication, concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans.
  • To communicate effectively and skillfully with other professionals in the service, other colleagues within or outside the Trusts, statutory and non-statutory agencies/partners relevant to the clients care and management (including for the purposes of safeguarding and liaison)
