Full Job Description

Both roles provide leadership for the Cloud and Storage Services team within Infrastructure Services.

  • The Team Lead reports to the Head of Platform Services and provides strategic direction, ensuring the team delivers reliable, robust, and secure services.
  • The Deputy Team Lead reports to the Team Lead and shares responsibility for managing team members and services.
  • The team manages key services, including:
  • The University Private Cloud service
  • Secondary Storage (Scality)
  • The HFS (Storage Protect) Backup service
  • The CrashPlan backup service
  • As cloud technology evolves, the team's scope is expected to expand to include third-party infrastructure services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. The postholders will play a leading role in the design, delivery, and management of systems critical to the University.

  • Proven expertise in leading technical teams, including recruitment, staff development, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of IT service management processes and IT systems lifecycle management, from design to implementation and ongoing operations.
  • Strategic thinking in IT service operations, with the ability to align infrastructure strategies with organisational needs and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences and produce high-quality written documentation.
