Full Job Description

The role of a Team Leader is to guide and oversee the efficient operation of your area whilst supporting your team to achieve their day-to-day goals and contribute to the overall success of IPN. Reporting and escalating to the Area Shift Leader,

  • Working Safely: Work in a safe manner at all times ensuring the safety of myself and colleagues. Follow health and safety policies and procedures at all times and raise any health and safety concerns through the appropriate channels
  • Facilitating Teamwork: You are responsible for creating an environment where team members can collaborate, communicate, and work together toward common goals
  • Execute IPN ways of working: Meet and greet at the start of the shift and regular updates throughout, praise a job well done, give clear direction on daily tasks/any changes to this
  • Task Assignment: Assigning tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and strengths is essential for achieving goals efficiently
  • Daily Management: Monitoring and assessing team performance is a critical accountability. Leaders should provide regular feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Resource Allocation: Managing resources effectively is important. This includes allocating budgets, personnel, and other resources to ensure the team can complete its tasks successfully
  • Problem Solving and Decision-Making: Team and process leaders often need to address issues and make decisions that impact the team's progress and outcomes. This includes resolving conflicts and making strategic choices
  • Communication: Effective communication is key to keeping the team informed and engaged. Leaders must communicate goals, expectations, progress updates, and any changes in plans or strategies
  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring that work produced by the team meets quality standards and adheres to relevant processes and guidelines is crucial for delivering value to the organisation and its stakeholder
  • Continuous Improvement: Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement is vital. Leaders should seek ways to optimize processes, enhance productivity, and promote innovation within the team
  • Reporting and Documentation: Keeping accurate records, preparing reports, and documenting team activities and achievements for organizational transparency and accountability

    Experience in food manufacturing or a related industry is preferred
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and experience of managing teams in a manufacturing/warehouse environment
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control standards
  • Effective communication skills

    IPN is an innovative, well-established, and award-winning pet food manufacturer, employing over 850 people across our 4 UK manufacturing sites. Our family of brands include Harringtons, Wagg, Barking Heads & Meowing Heads, AATU, Blink, Butchers, Classic Cat and a selection of partner brands that trust us to produce food on their behalf. Our kitchens in Thirsk, Kinmel and Crick produce dry, wet, and baked foods which are enjoyed by dogs and cats all over the world.

    The first 2 months of the role will be a training period, where you would be working Monday - Thursday and Tuesday to Friday , rotational days and nights (0600 - 1800, 1800 - 0600) - 48 hours per week.
  • Following the initial 2 month training period, you would then join the below 3 Week Shift Pattern: 44 hours per week (rotational days and nights)
  • Week 1: Monday - Friday 1800 - 0600
  • Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday day 0600 - 1800
  • Week 3: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday day 0600 - 1800, £15.72 per hour (including shift pay) then £16.63 per hour (38,049 per annum)
  • 44 hours per week (rotational days and nights)
  • Hourly pay, paid monthly last Friday of every month., Overtime up to 12 hours per week: time and a half
  • Overtime after 12 hours per week: double time
