  • As a band 7 nurse you will expected to be an expert clinical nurse and manage a team of band 6 and band 3 nurses plus deputise for the Matron in her absence.
  • We are a specialized group of nurses who deliver care across all three sites to the deteriorating patient, supporting both the nursing and medical teams. We operate through nerve centre task allocation, which is currently going through some exciting changes to ensure the quality, patient safety and timely service delivery.
  • The introduction of electronic observations has added additional oversight of all the in patients at UHL and has become a vital part UHL in identifying sepsis and AKI. You will be joining a highly motivated team that ensures that deteriorating patients are identified, assessed and managed by the appropriate teams in the appropriate care settings.
  • You will be working across all three sites and available to work shifts which include weekends and bank holiday days and nights, twilights and week day nights plus management days during normal office hours.
  • A period of supervision and structured training and support will be available and we can offer a wide range of development opportunities.

Want to work more autonomously but also be part of a small specialist team?
  • This is an exciting development opportunity to join the Out of Hours Response Team as a band 7 nurse. Each post holder will be accountable and responsible for being visible, accessible and responsive to the needs and experiences of service users, patients, carers and the public. They are required to be an expert clinical practitioner being able to work shifts, but also to be an enthusiastic and integral member of our well established and committed team. The provision, supervision and delivery of excellent quality care is essential for this role, as well as a requirement to provide a supportive learning environment for continuing education.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030). We have four primary goals:
  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence
  • And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities. Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team
  • This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
