Full Job Description

We are recruiting for a Team Leader Phlebotomy who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff., To safely and efficiently perform venepuncture on all patients requiring blood tests as per the Phlebotomy standard operating procedure (SOP) at Medway Maritime Hospital, Sheppey Community Hospital or anywhere else required by the Phlebotomy management team. The role will also include the day to day management of the phlebotomy team including rotas and e-rostering systems, sickness, annual leave and stock control and ordering.

This includes the promotion of flexible working opportunities across the Trust., Responsible to perform venepuncture on patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting, preparing patients for venepuncture, ensuring they are given the opportunity to discuss their concerns and individual needs
Responsible for delivering additional phlebotomy activity such as glucose tolerance tests, paediatric phlebotomy (age 0 to 16) and PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) line as the service develops
Responsible for the delivering training and mentoring of new staff for all routine and non-routine phlebotomy and ensure that all policies and protocols are adhered to
Responsible for delivering training Trust wide to ensure phlebotomy carried out by non phlebotomy staff is safe and competency assessed
Manage the e-roster system including rotas, annual leave and sickness monitoring and to escalate any rota issues to Head of Phlebotomy
Investigation of untoward incidents including Datix and complaints
