Chesterton Playgroup is held in Chesterton Village Hall. If you are looking for a friendly day time child care solution in a picturesque village setting then please contact us to arrange a visit. Chesterton Playgroup was first established in 1974. We cater for children between the ages of 2 and 5 year olds and provide a warm friendly environment where children can play, learn and discover with innovative up to date technology, equipment and traditional toys. As a charitable organisation, we are financed by fees, the Early years education funded scheme and fund-raising events. This is an exciting opportunity to progress in your childcare career within a friendly team at a fantastic setting Your roles and responsibilities will include;

  • As a practitioner you will be joining a committed team that ensure safe, stimulating play that provides for the needs of each individual child that attends the setting
  • Alongside this there is an opportunity to train in management and other areas in order to progress professional development. Recognising and following all safeguarding requirements and implementing health and safety procedures is a requirement
  • This involves preparing and delivering play-based activities appropriate for children aged 2 - 4 years, following the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework and the non-statutory guidance development matters
  • Communicating with our families is important so regular meetings will need to be arranged and liaising with external support, a good knowledge of SEN and the local offer would be beneficial.

    Level 3 Early Years Childcare Qualification
  • GCSE's A-C/4+ in English Language and Maths, or equivalent i.e. functional skills
  • Chesterton Playgroup is committed to safeguarding children and the successful applicant will be required to undergo a DBS check and disclose any criminal convictions as well as be able to supply two references on request
  • You should have experience of planning and setting up age-appropriate activities for all seven areas of learning and using observations from these activities to assess children's progress and plan further activities to support the learning and development needs of individual children
  • Shortlisted candidates will be asked to plan an activity for a group of children in the setting and be available for a formal interview.

    Chesterton Playgroup are open between the hours of 09:00-15:00
  • Working hours will be a minimum of 30 hours per week
