Full Job Description

To work alongside and drive a team of production operatives to ensure the execution of work meets the On Time in Full delivery and quality requirements of the assembly and test areas. Be the product expert in their area, working hands on to motivate, train and mentor team members while ensuring that we learn from issues and promote a continuous improvement culture.,

  • Accountable for the Health & Safety of all personnel within their team.

  • Work hands on within their team to execute the required workload (50% recoverable)

  • Work with the relevant co-ordinator to resolve any potential technical issues found on the job.

  • Managing hours worked, recommend overtime when required.

  • Perform end of line inspections, prior to panel handover to the test team.

  • Work with the manufacturing supervisor to identify and address performance issues

  • Ensuring training needs are identified and co-operate with the shop floor trainer to update records

  • Work with the test team to resolve any test report and punch list requirements ensuring relevant mechanisms are in place to ensure we learn from issues and update processes and re-train accordingly

  • Assist the supervisor with performance reviews and annual appraisals.

  • Identify, and where necessary work with others to resolve issues and bottlenecks.

  • Ensure quality standards and factory housekeeping is of the highest standard.

  • Identify, validate and implement continuous improvement activities.

  • Be the product expert in the area they are leading and mentor team members

  • Lead by example through a positive attitude and commitment.

  • Motivate team members and create a strong team ethic

  • Ensure all required documentation is completed correctly and on time.

  • Ensure that the companies Quality, Health Safety & Environmental policies and procedures are constantly adhered with.

  • Ensure all products are produced and delivered to the customer's requirements.

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships through open lines of communication at all levels.

  • Creating, implementing, monitoring and improving processes that drive OTIF delivery to assembly areas.


  • Communications

    Effective and regular communication between manufacturing departmental members is crucial. In addition the post holder when required must engage in clear and constructive communication with:
  • Switchgear design and development.

  • Procurement.

  • Quality, Health & Safety and Environment.

  • Project Management.

  • Academic Qualification
  • Working towards or willing to undertake vocational qualification in team leader/management/ leadership skills.

  • Knowledge of Powell processes and policies.

  • Preferred background in Electrical panel wiring
