Full Job Description

As the Team Leader you will expected to:

  • Required to line manage MDT professionals who work within the Forensic Low Secure Unit
  • Contribute at a local level to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Work in collaboration with the Primary Care Mental Health Services Manager, to ensure the highest standards of practice and service delivery.
  • To work as part of the Mental Health Directorate to deliver the services required under the National Service Framework for Mental Health
  • Provide day to day management, leadership and supervision to a multi-disciplinary inpatient services for the Low secure unit
  • Manage nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and other staff, ensuring that the needs of service users are met through the effective deployment of these staff. Whilst maintaining a clinical role
  • Contribute at a local level to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure, in collaboration with other professional colleagues that professional practice meets standards as set by HPFT and/or professional statutes and bodies.
  • You will uphold trust values and encourage the team to adhere to HPFT values., · To ensure effective nursing assessment and provision of a high standard of care within the inpatient service area
  • · To act as a positive clinical lead and role model within the inpatient service area · To manage and develop the inpatient service team who can meet the changing needs of the service user · To set and monitor care standards for the inpatient service area · To ensure the day to day running of the service area is maintained to a high standard.

    You will be an experienced Mental Health clinician (Registered Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist) with excellent assessment and risk management skills who is able to embrace and drive change and innovation. We are looking for a skilled and intuitive communicator with experience of providing leadership. You will work directly with the Operational Service Manager and Clinical Matron who will provide support, development and direction and alongside other leadership colleagues. You will know the importance of providing high quality supervision and of working together with staff and the wider management team in providing supportive, effective and coordinated leadership to the team in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for service users and carers.,
  • RNMH/RNLD/RMN
  • Degree with experience of post graduate level study or the equivalent experience
  • ENB 998/Mentorship
  • Evidence of management or leadership development
  • NMC registration
  • Teaching/training experience., Management of staff in a multi- professional setting
  • Significant experience as a Charge nurse
  • Detailed awareness of issues in inpatient service areas - legislation, DoH guidance, NPSA, PEAT, CQC, NHSLA, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act including an understanding of standards
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision, appraisal, preceptorship and staff support methods.
  • Knowledge in current developments in mental health or learning disabilities care
  • Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in other care settings, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
