Full Job Description

We have an excitingopportunity for a full-time Team Manager to join the Barnsley communitylearning disability health team.

The Community LearningDisabilities Team Manager provides leadership & management to a fullmulti-disciplinary team (MDT) of health professional's providing high qualitycare, treatment, & support to adults with learning disabilities in theBarnsley area.

The role will include ensuringthe effective day to day management of the community team within the resources available& agreed governance frameworks.

The postholder will provide leadership that facilitatesprofessional decision making and effective team working, empowering & enablingstaff to contribute to the delivery of high-quality person-centred care.

The role will entailsupporting the wider management structure to ensure the service has the right staffinglevels & skill mix to run smoothly & offer an outstanding service.

As part of your day-to-dayrole you will provide management / clinical supervision to staff under your linemanagement and promote partnership working between staff, patients, carers and otherexternal stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

Alongsideother members of the locality leadership team, you will be accountable for theoverall operational management and development of the community service,ensuring safe and effective coordination of the services provided and optimisingthe cost-effective use of resources.

Tooffer line management and supervision to the members of the senior clinicalteam, with overall accountability and responsibility for the delivery of care.

Through the provision of effective clinical and managerial leadership you will motivateand support the team approach to delivering new and innovative models of care.

Topromote a culture of continued development and improvement of the LD service,by ensuring systems are in place to support clinical governance, qualitymonitoring, service improvement and ongoing research and audit.

To act as a resourcefor all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, providing expert managementadvice and guidance and responsible for ensuring that the agreed professionalstandards are reflected in practice and to have overall responsibility formonitoring the standard of care.

Thepost holder will support and oversee operational delivery of the teams; theywill be required to work autonomously in order to address issues impacting onservice delivery with overall support and strategic direction from the SeniorLeadership Trio.

  • Postgraduate study to Masters Level or equivalent in a field related to health and social care.

  • To be willing to undertake post graduate training to further skills, knowledge and expertise.

  • Evidence of ongoing continued professional development.

    Essential
  • Experience in operational and / or project management role in the NHS.

  • Experience of leading service developments.

  • Experience of services / projects and / or delivering clinical services to people with Learning Disabilities.

  • Experience of delivering service changes and developments.

    Knowledge of local commissioning and provider context including health and social care.

    Qualifications

    Essential
  • Qualified Health or Social care practitioner.

  • Post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience in relevant clinical, professional or managerial role.

  • Postgraduate qualification in management and / or leadership.

  • Qualification in coaching or mentoring.

  • Qualification in Project Management Prince 2., Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post. A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and / or pregnancy)., Knowledge and understanding of Learning disability services and pathways.

  • Knowledge and understanding of current and proposed initiatives impacting on health services.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to listen to and respect others views and opinions.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, commissioners and partner agencies.

  • Ability to build credibility and work collaboratively with others across the service.
