Full Job Description

Leading the implementation and delivery of the Mental Health Support Teams, building on the 4 already established teams in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
The Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Mental Health Support Teams (MHST's) whilst teams in BeeU will also become part of the school community, engaged in the curriculum impacting on the whole school whilst reaching those with identified emotional wellbeing and mental health needs. The operational lead will ensure that the service is delivered to the highest quality, meeting the needs of children, young people and families, and our colleagues in education., MHST teams offer 3 core functions of service:
+ Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild-to-moderate mental health problems
+ Supporting the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach
+ Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education
MHST's will support the whole school approach implementation of models of emotional wellbeing and mental health understanding and support. This will be achieved through completing audit, providing consultation, training, supervision and other information sessions to schools and other agencies; and helping drive the strategic direction of emotional wellbeing and mental health provision in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin schools.
MHST's will provide timely advice to education staff including liaison with other BeeU teams to ensure CYP get the right level of support at the right time; and deliver brief goal-focused interventions individually and in groups to support with needs such as:
+ Anxiety, worry management and problem solving
+ behavioural difficulties - identification of and brief parenting support
+ low mood, irritability, depression
+ managing negative thoughts
+ self-harm (not requiring medical attention)
+ sleep difficulties
