Full Job Description

The Team Manager role within Old Market Services requires the post holder to have a sound understanding of:

  • Safeguarding children and adults

  • Exploitation (both sexual exploitation and criminal exploitation)

  • Serious Youth Violence

  • The needs of children who are reported missing.


  • This particular role will involve the post holder:

  • Supervising a team of specialist exploitation project workers and providing them extensive safeguarding/child protection advice and guidance to manage risk.

  • Managing incoming service referrals, which includes assessing risk, strength, capacity and threshold.

  • Attendance at operational multi-agency meetings. Including strategy discussions, child protection conferences, risk Management meetings and operational partnership meetings.

  • Contract management work to support the Children's Service Manager - report writing, data analysis, contract review and leading operational delivery

  • Development of existing and new pieces of work - reviewing, evaluating and adapting service provision to flex with change within the external environment

  • Delivery of training and workshop sessions to professionals, young people, parents/carers and or commissioners

  • Deputising for core tasks when the Children's Service Manager is unavailable, supporting Team Manager peer and providing support to project workers when required.

  • The Team Manager will provide weekly on call support to staff.

  • The Team Manager role is officed based with the scope of working from home on occasions as agreed by the Children's Service Manager.


  • The post holder will receive support and supervision from the Children's Service Manager. Clinical peer supervision facilitated by an external consultant approximately every 5 weeks.

    While the post holder's permanent work base will be Bristol, there will be a need to travel to other Local Authorities to ensure service delivery.

    Due to the nature of the service some flexibility in working hours will be required and a driving license and access to a car is desirable.
