The Centre of Blended Realities at Falmouth University aspires to be continuously exploring and integrating the latest immersive and emergent technologies to foster ground breaking research. The team is proud to empower great ideas and positive collaboration, and is committed to advancing media technologies, equipping individuals with valuable skills, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. While our activity expands in scale, the team is seeking a new Technical & Facilities Manager. The ideal candidate will have a wide knowledge base that enables them to bridge specialised areas of expertise and diverse use cases within the rapidly evolving field of creative technology. You will oversee the management of and full responsibility for technical staff, technical resources, estates, and facilities of the centre. This includes the provision of high-quality support for those seeking to work with the Centre, plus the supervision, maintenance and development of the technical facilities, equipment, and processes in all areas of the centre and for all users. The successful candidate will take lead responsibility for ensuring safe Health & Safety practices are operated by all individuals using technical facilities and equipment in the Centre. Additionally, there is potential opportunity for technical staff to serve as consultants, leveraging their highly desirable skillsets to generate income for the university. About You The successful candidate will possess the skills and experience to actively promote the centre and cross-disciplinary working, as well as the constant exploration and practical application of emerging technologies. Involved in creating high-quality demo materials for visiting VIPs, supporting research, and up-skilling initiatives, you will be able to embrace a richly informed practice-driven culture. You will not only understand processes but also be able to actively create content that meets required standards. We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience
- Substantial demonstrable experience of recent practice within one or more of the subjects relating to the activity of the centre.
- Significant experience of managing a team of technical staff, facilities and budgets
- Experience of working closely with academic colleagues
- Ability to service and maintain technical facilities, equipment and processes.
