Full Job Description

Undertake Strategic Projects as instructed by the Head of Technical, ensuring Business Continuity, Statutory Compliance and Risk Reduction are a Key Priority.

-Drop into or onto Pressurised Accounts Nationally, to provide Technical, Engineering, Hard services and/ or Managerial support as required.

-Support the Head of Technical in creating any required technical improvement plans.

-Oversee, deliver and support the Account in delivering the required technical improvement plans.

-Support the Head of Technical throughout the Technical Team Transformation Project.

-Deputise for Regional Technical Managers, so to ensure Technical Managerial expertise is available throughout periods of absence.

-Support the Regional Technical Managers ensuring our planned and reactive engineering works are delivered on plan and at best value, to support the client goal of ensuring their staff always have access to a 'great place to work'.

-Support the Regional Technical Managers ensuring our service delivery always meets contractual and statutory obligations.

Main Responsibilities

-Develop and implement plans in which maintenance services to the client are improved to maximise value, minimise cost, risk and downtime, whilst delivering the desired consistent quality of service.

-As required, drop into or onto Pressurised Accounts Nationally, to provide Technical, Engineering, Hard Services and/ or Managerial support.

-Able to respond to emergency incidents and lead the subsequent investigation to establish root cause, reporting both internally and to the client.

-Assess, review, mitigate and manage Engineering and/ or Business risk, whether operational, financial or reputational.

-Ensure Technical Team Management Resilience is in place, by providing annual leave/ absence cover for peers and colleagues.

-Technical audit and assessment of engineering and maintenance activities, and HSE operations associated with Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Reactive Repairs and Lifecycle Replacement projects to identify deficiencies, operational problems and other areas for improvement in compliance with appropriate specifications, contract obligations and established Mitie standards and procedures.

-Review site technical documents utilising sound engineering concepts and technical expertise to validate compliance with contract obligations and Mitie's Integrated Management System (IMS) and improve the quality of service delivery, its efficiency and productivity.

-As required, manage the Technical Teams operational, maintenance and engineering activities, to ensure the necessary work (both planned and reactive) is identified, costed, planned and executed in a safe and timely manner.

-As required, own and deliver your people plan for the Mitie LGE sector, including:
-Skills and learning.

-Communications, culture and community.

-Development, career paths and performance reviews.

-As required, develop and support any direct reports to help them meet their full potential with Mitie.

-As required, oversee planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure KPI's for PPM and reactive works are achieved or bettered.

-As required, provide support, and where required take responsibility for the maintenance of accurate plant records, information and reporting systems. Then regularly auditing records to ensure system robustness and audit readiness.

-As required, provide support and contribute to the development of the forward maintenance regime and lifecycle planning, ensuring these are up to date and regularly reviewed.

-Partnering with the Mitie LGE Accounts and Operations Teams, provide technical support and guidance as required.

-Demonstrate a consistent level of professionalism, effective timely communication and professional relationship management at all times.

-If required, participate/ provide Technical Managerial support for evening/ weekend planned/ unplanned maintenance activities.

-If required, participate/ provide Technical Managerial support as an Escalation Point for call-out queries, to ensure we maintain business continuity.

Engineering/ Trade background.

-Engineering Qualification, such as or equivalent to:
-ONC

-HNC

-HND

-Or qualified to NVQ Level 3

Minimum Experience:

-Minimum 3 years' relevant Managerial experience.

Job-Specific Skills:

-Good functional and commercial knowledge of the PFI contracts would be an advantage.

-Good knowledge of estates maintenance, key process, key risk and key controls.

-Solid understanding and experience of Total Facilities Management.

-Strong Team Leader with efficient communication skills.

-Able to manage a team of Supervisors, Engineers and Specialist Subcontractors.

-Experienced in asset management and SFG20 industry standards.

-Understanding of the application of CDM Regulations to maintenance and project works.

-Proactive and flexible attitude to work and ability to enthuse team members.

-Able to represent Mitie effectively at all levels and both internal and external meetings.

-Strong customer focus skills and attitude.

-Internal and external negotiation skills.

-Experience of successfully delivering change, through both processes and people.

-Knowledge of current legislation and mandatory standards relating to safe working practices.

-Technically qualified in appropriate engineering disciplines and willing to work towards suitable nominated appointments, such as: RP, AE/ AP etc.

-Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.

-The ability to communicate effectively, in both verbal and written forms.

-Capable of fully utilising programs in the MS Office suite to produce written reports, tracking spreadsheets and presentations.

-A proven track record of building and developing client relationships.

-Excellent analytical skills to operational issues.

-Commercial awareness and application.

-Ability to manage and maintain 3rd party supplier relationships.
