Work Location: EMA Cargo West, East Midlands Airport, Derby, DE74 2TR Working Hours: 3 days per week, core office hours Salary: Competitive DHL Air (UK) Ltd is the largest all-cargo air carrier in the UK, operating a fleet of B757-200SF, B767-300F & B777-200F aircraft on worldwide operations. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join DHL Air (UK) Ltd as a Technical Safety Officer within our Safety Department. The Role: Your primary role is to provide information and support to the Safety Manager and department on all line maintenance and airworthiness matters. Your main duties will include:

  • Carrying out and assisting in safety department investigations into accidents, incidents and hazardous occurrences, including the writing of reports and making of recommendations to prevent a re-occurrence;
  • Reviewing, processing, actioning, monitoring to conclusion and closing all technical safety occurrence reports, thereby ensuring that events are investigated and the appropriate closing action is undertaken;
  • Liaising with, de-briefing and providing feedback to engineers on the outcome of investigations into accident, incident and occurrence reports in accordance with the company's just culture protocol;
  • Acting as a contact for engineers on safety matters as appropriate;
  • Facilitating Safety Action Group meetings
  • Skills and experience required for the role:
  • Must hold a Part-66 B1 or B2 licence and be type rated on aircraft types of similar size and complexity to that operated by DHL Air (UK) OR a graduate qualification in aeronautical/aircraft engineering.
  • Experience of working in a quality/safety department within an airline or maintenance repair organisation with an understanding of Safety Management Systems would be desirable
  • High attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures
  • Excellent administration, organisation and time management skills
  • The ability to work on your own initiative to tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent team working skills and be able to deal with colleagues at all levels
  • IT literate with a strong working knowledge of MS Office packages including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook
