Full Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. The Technical Services team in the Faculty of Health and Education is looking for a student to support with the re-organisation of equipment stores, equipment movement between Health & Education lab spaces and updating the Technical Service Asset databases. The student will work across Brooks Building operating within the Brooks Resource Centre team. Duties will include:

  • Resource Centre counter tasks, dealing with student & academic requests for resources, issuing equipment via the Connect 2 online system.
  • Supporting technical staff in the organising, cleaning, and tidying of equipment stores
  • Assisting technical staff with manual handling of equipment
  • Recognising health and safety hazards and reporting to technical staff
  • Updating the Technical Services Asset Database
  • Responding to student queries in the workspaces and signposting technical staff as appropriate

  • Have excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Broad range of IT Skills, desire to learn how to use new online communication software.
  • Have an awareness of Health and Safety
  • Have good customer service skills.
  • Desirable
  • Students based in Brooks Building with knowledge of the building layout.

  • Hours of Work: 14 hours a week (2 days, 8:45am - 4.30pm) Details of briefing/training (if relevant): Health & Safety and Manual Handling training delivered by university services. (Online or Face to face)
