Full Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. The Health and Education Technical Services Team is looking for 2 students to support lab equipment set ups, development of store management systems, and data entry into Asset database and equipment loans systems. The role holders will work in Brooks Building based in specialist technical areas Duties will include:

  • Assisting technical staff with manual handling and set up of equipment.
  • Supporting technical staff in the organising, cleaning, and tidying of equipment stores.
  • Recognising health and safety hazards and reporting to technical staff.
  • Updating the Technical Services Asset Database.
  • Uploading and booking out equipment on Connect 2.
  • Undertake other tasks as required in the H&E Technical team.
  • Dates: 7 Oct 2024 - 18 April 2025 Hours of Work: 16hrs per week per student with an opportunity to increased to more hours out of term Details of briefing/training: You will attend Health & Safety and Manual Handling training delivered by university services.     This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements -
  • Have excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Willing to work in a technical lab/ studio / workshop and stores environment to move and organise equipment.
  • Broad range of IT Skills, desire to learn how to use new online communication software.
  • Have an awareness of and follow health and safety guidance.
