Full Job Description

As part of the IT team, you will be responsible for supporting both students and staff members with any IT queries that arise. You should also be outgoing, happy to think on your feet and have a desire to provide the highest level of service possible. A willingness to learn is essential, support will always be available. Apprentify are hiring on behalf of our client. The Information Technology team is responsible for the provision of an effective and responsive technical support service to IT users across the College, and for the development of a reliable, resilient IT infrastructure to support the business needs of the organisation. The team is split into a number of groups, each of which has responsibility for delivering specific parts of the IT support required. You will report to one of the Desk top Managers and work closely with the IT Engineers providing Desktop IT Support to students and staff. The IT Service Desk Operates at the following times and you will be given a 7.5 hrs slot Monday to Thursday and 7.00hrs on a Friday within this time frame : - Monday to Friday. 8.30 am to 5.00 pm There will be a requirement to work on the occasional Saturdays to support enrolment and Open day. Therefore, some Evening and Weekend working may be required., Information communications technicians support the delivery of efficient IT operations, this could be installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults, solving technical and applications problems either remotely or in person, including resolving issues such as slow performance, connection problems and an inability to access data. Our ICT apprenticeship covers topics allowing apprentices to support organisations relying on computer and communication systems in all areas of their operations and decision-making processes. As an ICT apprentice, you will develop skills and knowledge of the industry by learning key IT essentials such as fault finding and diagnostics, preventative measures, routine maintenance, system tools and testing. You will also gain an awareness of cloud systems and physical and virtual network components including an awareness of security and firewalls, network architecture, protocols and principles of database migration. Whether you have experience within the field or not Apprentify's level 3 ICT apprenticeship will give you the tools to get your career started within IT support.   • A minimum of grade 4/C in both maths and English at GCSE level.
  • Able to work well both in a team and independently.
  • A keen, evidencable interest and understanding of IT.
  • Competent user of IT applications, e.g., Excel, Word
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when required.
