Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills and an enthusiasm for pharmacy operations to lead our stores and distribution services on our Aintree site
Working with the Technical Services Manager for Purchasing, Stores and Distribution you will lead and develop the existing stores and distribution teams towards our vision of merging into one cross-site team for purchasing and distribution services across LUHFT.
This post is full time (37.5 hours) but options for flexible working apply., Your core role will involve leading the team responsible for the safe and effective receipt and distribution of medicines on the Aintree site. You will be a key member of the Procurement Operational Group, linking in with purchasing and medicines value colleagues to ensure robust processes are in place to provide stocked medicines to our wards and departments. You will also support the management of critical supply shortages across LUHFT., To assist the Technical Services Manager in the operational management and development of the pharmacy stores and distribution service.
To update and take responsibility for departmental policies and procedures for operational activities within the pharmacy department and stores areas.
To plan, co-ordinate and manage the workload of pharmacy technical and support staff within the Pharmacy store.
To ensure safe systems are in operation for receipt and distribution of medicines within pharmacy stores.
To work with the Technical Services Manager to support performance management targets within the Pharmacy store.
To ensure compliance with relevant Trust, regional and national guidelines with regards to medicines receipt and Good Distribution Practice.
To manage logistics and transfer of medicines between all sites of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and external customers.
To ensure compliance with WDA(H) regulations set out by the MHRA in the capacity of Operational Store Lead for the applicable hospital site(s)
To support workforce planning for technical and support staff by actively participating in staff recruitment.
To support with medicines procurement and monitoring supply disruptions, ensuring the safe and effective management and communication of issues impacting on the Trust.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £18+£5 (standard disclosure) or £38+£5 (enhanced disclosure) will be deducted from salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment. Please note: new entrants to the NHS will commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.
For agenda for change banded roles; salary payments will reflect the 2023/24 pay scales. The 2024/25 pay scales will be paid in October 2024 including any backpay due. Therefore should the successful applicant start in post prior to October, the salary will initially reflect the 2023/24 pay scales.

You must possess excellent organisational skills to undertake this role: You must be able to work accurately, have a good eye for detail, be able to prioritise your workload, meet deadlines and be committed to the delivery of high standards in a patient focused service. Experience of working as a Technician leader in a busy Pharmacy department is essential, as is an excellent working knowledge of good distribution practice and processes. A good knowledge or experience of working in a Pharmacy store in possession of WDA(H) would also be beneficial to anyone considering this role.
