Full Job Description

National Highways have an excellent opportunity for multiple Technicians to join our team in the East region. As a Technician within Operations, you will be supporting in the development of schemes for our Capital Works Programme consisting of road safety, improvement, and asset renewal schemes throughout the region. This role can be based from either of our Bedford, Cambridge or Ipswich offices. Please note that You will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment. What you'll be leading on:

  • Provide support in the identification and management of asset studies and survey works.
  • To input into the development of early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling of relevant documents, evidence and options in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria.
  • To support the development of technical briefs provided to the design and construction contractor for improvement and renewals work.
  • To support the capture and maintenance of roads asset data and condition information in the relevant database.
  • Provide support in the analysis of traffic collision data and the development of mitigating safety measures., Operations is at the heart of keeping the strategic road network moving and ensuring our customers get the best possible experience when using our roads.

    Higher national diploma/certificate or other relevant qualification with relevant experience, or working towards
  • Knowledge of Design Manual for Road & Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highways network
  • Experience in highway construction and delivery methods
  • Experience in highway infrastructure design or traffic engineering
  • Experience in Auto CAD/ArcGIS (desirable)
